Art That Inspires

Julia Weitzer Wagoner is the lead designer and the heart of JWW Designer's creativity. Passionate about art and design Julia has been expressive in many different mediums from wood, beadwork, lighting and more. Her love for creativity inspires, with unique and beautiful designs that capture the essence of her heart felt visions.

 Julia has been an accomplished designer and artist for over thirty years, proven through accolades and museum spotlights. Beginning in 1989 she had a vision of creating beaded cowboy boots and arranged to work with one of the finest cowboy boot manufacturers of the time, Stallion Boot Company. Since that time, she has beaded boots for many known celebrities. Inspired by the “broadcollar”, found in many cultures such as  the Egyptians, Huichol Indians of Central Mexico, Mohave Indians, and Africans, Julia created a series of wearable art neckpieces utilizing her own techniques. Combining beadwork and sterling silver in ways that had never been done before led to the development of her concho belt and buckle line. Working with one of New Mexico’s well-trained silversmiths-Jeff Morris, Julia was able to bring her visions to life. The beadwork is inlayed into the silver like a fine gem. Out of this inspiration sprang her most popular earrings of that time inspired by the Native American shield and popularity of crystals. Incorporating gems and semi-precious stones into beadwork was not an original idea of Julia’s but she has certainly taken it to the next level. By perfecting the technique she can now incorporate stones into much of her work from shoes to clothes, accessories, and jewelry. 

Her innovation in lighting with the use of wood is unparalleled. She utilizes the mentorship from her father, with his personal experience of the Bau Haus movement at Black Mountain College in the Mid-Century. She is eager to continue designing lighting applying her accomplishments in American Craft using natural materials. 

Julia lives on Oahu in the Hawaiian islands with her husband Matt Wagoner. Julia believes that communication is key to creating great designs for her clients. The process involves working closely to understand your needs and your vision. From there, she creates a customized plan and works diligently to bring your ideas to life. 

Julia graduated from New York University with a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts and studied indigenous art, the visionary process and from several tribes in the Americas. Through her studies conventional and non conventional Julia has explored the design process like no other. She has applied her vision in many mediums and found confidence in her years of experience working with her clients.
